Job Description:
Full-time, year-round position responsible for the administration of all financial aid operations and scholarship programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, supervises, and evaluates the financial aid operations of the College.
Maintains the integrity of the financial aid recordkeeping process.
Performs fiduciary function as it relates to job responsibilities.
Maintains an office environment that promotes student learning and the development of high quality customer service.
Supervises the preparation and submission of institutional, state, and federal reports.
Provides strong, hands-on leadership in departmental organization, management, processing, technology, and customer service.
Develops and implements policies and procedures designed to maximize processing of financial aid.
Oversees departmental budget planning and administration.
Maintains accountability for internal and external audits related to financial aid; responds to audit inquiries; participates in resolving audit issues in cooperation with the college controller's office.
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with appropriate college departments.
Exercises professional judgment in the review of all appeals.
Serves on college committees/councils.
Supports the enrollment management efforts of the college.
Responsible for the award and disbursement of all federal and state aid as well as scholarships/grants in accordance with federal state and local laws and policies.
Works collaboratively with IT staff to make programming changes to meet regulatory requirements and to provide constant improvements to decrease manual processing and reduce processing time.
Works with local high schools by conducting workshops for students and parents and being a resource person to answer questions on financial aid.
Participates in professional development activities to maintain currency of knowledge in the specific area of responsibility and matters related to Student Services.
Awards institutional and SFSC Foundation scholarships.
Responsible for coordinating, documenting, and implementing all unit action planning, outcomes assessment, and institutional effectiveness efforts within the scope of administrative supervision.
Monitors and promotes progress toward meeting the goals and objectives of the College's Equity Update Report.
Acts in accordance with College policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational: The minimum of a Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred) in an area related to higher education administration, student personnel services, or other closely related major.
Experiential: Minimum of four years experience in a college or university financial aid office is required; management experience in a comprehensive financial aid office is desirable.
Other: Working knowledge of the Banner System highly desirable. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office with particular emphasis on the database and spreadsheet applications required. Knowledge of pertinent state and federal regulations, policies and procedures relating to Financial Aid required. Ability to direct complex programs, manage data and systems, and prepare detailed reports in a technologically oriented student information system. Ability to develop, implement and evaluate policies, procedures, processes, and personnel. Good presentations skills. Ability to maintain an office environment that promotes student learning and the development of high quality customer service.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
