Correctional Officers also coordinate and monitor inmate movements, conduct counts, and provide emergency response, while maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
Correctional Officers MUST be able to work as a team and coordinate activities with fellow officers and supervisors.
Duties:
- Maintain order and discipline among inmates by enforcing facility rules and regulations - Conduct regular inspections of cells, common areas, and inmate activities - Monitor inmate behavior and report any suspicious or concerning activities - Conduct searches for contraband items such as weapons, drugs, or unauthorized materials - Escort inmates to various locations within the facility, including court appearances or medical appointments - Respond to emergencies or incidents within the facility, such as fights or medical emergencies - Prepare detailed reports on incidents, inmate behavior, and any other relevant information - Utilize CCTV systems to monitor inmate activities and ensure security This career is ideal for someone who is:

While attending the academy recruits will return to their own residence and are not required to stay overnight.
Upon completion, the recruit must take and pass the State Officer Certification Exam.
